April 8, 2024: And The World Went Dark...

A few minutes of darkness, chirping crickets, and sudden temperature drops, all in the middle of the day... April 8, 2024 will long be remembered due to the unusually large numbers of people who had the opportunity to experience the solar eclipse along its path of totality. While in Eureka Springs, we were blessed to be only an hour and a half from totality, so we took a day trip and found a church parking lot in Harrison, Arkansas so we could watch the eclipse in it's full glory.

As an extra treat, God worked the details such that we were able to meet up with Mrs. Barnes at the church...everything is better with friends, after all. :)

A solar eclipse occurs when the sun, moon and earth all line up, blocking out light and revealing the Sun's corona, 'diamond ring' and a 360 degree sunset appearance. This particular eclipse passed through a whopping 15 states, with an approximate 12.25 million people living in it's path. The next total solar eclipse will occur in two decades, but it will only be visible in North Dakota and Montona.

Although I'm not a big astronomy person, it was very incredible to experience this historic moment and witness yet another marvel of God's creation!

Of course, we couldn't resist trying our solar glasses on the pups just for fun...that made for great entertainment. :)

Nellie gave us the evil eye the entire time, LOL

Lucy was a little more cool about it... but looked absolutely ridiculous ;)

We continue to be amazed at how God worked out the tiniest of details in our grand adventure, as we had no pre-planned intentions of being in the area of totality...but He did. :)

Until next time, God bless!
