DID YOU KNOW? Located at Boca Chica, Texas, is Starbase, which is owned by Elon Musk and is one of several SpaceX locations for his Starship rocket production and development. Built in 2010, Starbase has expanded greatly and employs between 1,600 - 2,100 workers. Due to these large numbers of employees, the area surrounding Starbase is beginning to look a lot like a city development. Several rockets have been launched from Starbase, including one (unmanned) in late November that exploded shortly after reaching the internationally recognized boundary of space. The next rocket launch is scheduled for February.
While we are not Elon supporters, we enjoyed seeing rockets up close and getting to view his busy site...full of construction and moving vehicles :) Plus it was cool to be so close to the Rio Grande and Mexican border.
After driving through Starbase, we enjoyed a couple hours playing and hiking along Boca Chica beach. There were lots of shells, which were fun to look at and collect. The dogs had a great time running along the beach burning energy after being cooped up in the RV most of the day.
Short post today, since I know very little to nothing about Mr. Musk...nor do I care to learn more, LOL. There wasn't much information about what was going on at Starbase, so not a lot to write about there either.
Next up...South Padre Island!!
Until next time, God bless!
