DID YOU KNOW? A Redwood tree can grow to be 300+ feet tall with roots 6-12 feet deep that spread out up to 100 feet from the tree trunk. Redwoods are incredibly resilient, with bark up to a foot thick and very little sap, making them fire-resilient. Redwoods will often sprout up out of a ‘parent tree’ into family circles. They exchange nutrients with their young, sick, and old through their interconnected root systems…it truly takes a forest to raise a strong Redwood.
A couple weeks ago, sometime around September 20, we were in the Redwood Forest. I realized recently that I never included anything on it in any of my blog posts…so here’s a (very) brief overview of our time in the forest and some pictures of these awesome giants.
Most of the time we were driving through the Redwoods, but we did make a stop at the visitor's center to take a popular hike route that allowed us to get up close to the trees. We thought the trees at the Hoh Rainforest were big…until we experienced the Redwoods! They are insanely huge!
Some of them had massive cracks/openings in them that the littles loved to explore!
Alright, that's all for now. Like I said, short post today :)
Until next time, God bless!
