DID YOU KNOW? Outside of Kanab, Utah there is a state park, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, that features beautiful pink-hued sand dunes surrounded by red sandstone cliffs. These dunes are a popular location for hiking, offroading, camping and sand-boarding.
We spent an evening at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes sandboarding down the massive dunes and having an absolute blast! We love sledding and snowboarding back home in Minnesota during the winter months, so the idea of sandboarding was fascinating to us. It proved to be a very strenuous, but enjoyable experience.
Dad videoing a trip down...watch out for the crash landing at the end :)
Our first trip down the largest dune... I was seriously afraid I was going to die! I told the others to make sure they let my subscribers know that I met my demise in Utah and there would be no future posts. I don't know why it was so terrifying since I've snowboarded down steeper hills in the winter when it's icy. Perhaps its because of the unique terrain and the fact that you can't turn these boards in the sand without face-planting.
Obviously, I survived :)

And if you want something to really make you smile, keep watching Mom's only attempt to make it down a dune...a small dune, no less :) Watch till the end to see her hysterical response to the ride!
When Levi had to wait for his turn on a board, he would cartwheel down the dune until he got too dizzy to continue. Make sure you have your volume on to fully enjoy the slo-mo sound effects :P
These dunes were massive though, so while the trip down went pretty quick, the trip back up did not! Carrying the boards back up the dunes was an exhausting job and high-altitude didn't make life any easier.
But in spite of the achy muscles, it was worth the effort to make it to the top. The sights were beautiful and watching the sun set was delightful.
Quick side-note: sandboarding = sand stuck to everything and everyone...A week later we were still cleaning sand out of our hair and ears. I purposely wore a bandanna to minimize the amount of sand that made its way into my hair, but even that didn't completely prevent it :)
Until next time, God bless!
Thank you for sharing these videos. It looks like everyone enjoyed the time and the laughter made me smile.
