Were it not for the cup of coffee in that officer's hands, you might wonder what kind of trouble the D-Team got themselves into :)
No trouble...just a lengthy conversation with these delightful public servants. The one officer was parked behind us in the Home Depot parking lot when we got up in the morning. She stayed there for a long time such that we thought we were in some kind of trouble parking there. Mom went out alone to ask her, and learned that she was on duty there for the day and just happened to park near us. One thing led to another and she invited us kids to come learn more about her job, the squad car, and such. We took her up on the offer. Not too long after, another squad car pulled up with two more officers.
We hung out and chatted and spent about an hour and a half learning so much about law enforcement, police academy, all the gear they carry, calls they go to, and so much more. They enjoyed asking us lots of questions too, about life in an RV, homeschooling, etc...such a neat experience.
Before we left, Levi noticed a "squishmallow" in the passenger seat of the lady officer's squad car. He said: "I bet you squeeze that squishy when you get anxious." She agreed and shared that she also uses it as a pillow for her neck when she's parked someplace. Levi noticed that her squishy was a little dirty, so when we ran across the street to Walmart to get groceries, we picked up a new squishy and took it back over to her, along with a special treat.
What a fun way to spend a couple of hours learning about the lives of the men and women who daily work behind the scenes to protect our nation. We love our law enforcement officers!
Until next time, God bless!
Awwww, you all are so sweet!
