A Final Farewell

Hey folks,

Thank you for all your prayers! We received the heartbreaking news this morning that our sweet little Rosie passed away in the night. Her little immune system just wasn't strong enough to fight the virus. While we knew it was a possibility that she wouldn't make it, the suddenness of her death was devastating. We were scheduled to visit her this morning and were actually walking into the clinic when we got the call.

We will miss her dearly. Her mischievous, affectionate personality. The way she bounced on my stomach every morning when we both needed bathroom breaks. Her passionate love for playing fetch until she dropped out of exhaustion. The way she always barked to alert us that our vehicle had pulled to a stop. Her dainty kisses and sleepy snuggles. Her excited jumping whenever there was chicken, cheese, or carrots in sight (or smell). I never imagined I'd lose my baby so suddenly or so young.

Her online picture that captured our hearts & made us say "YES! We want this one."

Saying a final goodbye to my baby

Although Rosie passed away, we are incredibly grateful to the staff at TLC Animal Hospital in El Paso, Texas for their careful and compassionate care for our little girl. We were so blessed to have them walking us through this difficult time, patiently answering all our questions and calling with regular updates. Rosie was well-cared for in her final days and we have no regrets about placing her in their care. They were very understanding and empathetic when we came to say good-bye, gifting us with a paw-print memorial and helping us fill a couple vials with her fur. They also kindly helped us arrange for a private cremation so that her ashes could be sent to some dear friends for safekeeping until we return home...that way we can create some sort of special memorial for her near her people, not in a Texas desert. (Perhaps plant 'Rosie's Tree' somewhere in the yard?)

Rosie left an indelible pawprint on our hearts, with many precious memories to accompany it. We mourn the loss of our furry family member, but also thank God for the time we had with her.

Until next time, God bless
